In order to combine nutrition sciences and food industries and also university and industry, the incubation and Innovation Center of NNFTRI was established in 2016. NNFTRI incubation and innovation center is unique because of attending nutrition and food industry experts, researchers and students.

Promoting and commercializing health-oriented food products was one the main reasons for establishing this center. Food industry has increased its share of dietary intake in developing and developed countries. Access to healthy food products is one of the main policies to challenge the increasing rate of NCDs. Aiming to have more health-oriented food products, NNFTRI started promoting and supporting health-oriented startups and units that have ideas in the mentioned field.

1.       Supporting domestic production and promoting food production technology and healthy nutrition in the country

1.    Creating an entrepreneurial environment and supporting the innovation and creativity of students and young researchers

2.    establishing a Platform for the commercialization of research and technology achievements

3.    Creating suitable job opportunities to attract entrepreneurs and university graduates

4.Development of products and technological processes that can be supplied to the market according to the needs of the industry

5.     Creating the ecosystem for the growth and development of technology units and startups

Duties:

1.    Financial support for startups

2.    Trying to provide legal support to accelerate the incubation of units located in the incubation center

3.    Providing services and consultations needed in order to transform new ideas into products and commercialize them

4.    Monitoring the commercialization process of units and continuous analysis of achievements with the aim of increasing the efficiency of the incubation and innovation center

For assisting startups in the commercialization process and to help them start their production, we have a 500 m2 pilot lab for pilot production of healthy food products and with using this pilot, we can produce prototypes and then scale them up in the real production line of producers.
